We get asked this on nearly every first call: “Why not just use Wix or Squarespace?” It is a fair question, so here is the honest answer.
When a page builder is the right call
If you need a simple site this week, have almost no budget, and are happy to build it yourself, use a builder. You will be online tonight. We would rather you have a builder site than no site.
Where builders start to cost you
Speed. Builders ship a lot of code you do not use. A custom static site loads in a fraction of the time, and load time is a ranking factor and a conversion factor. People leave slow pages.
Search. You get limited control over the technical details that search engines read: structured data, clean URLs, image optimization, and how the page is rendered. On a custom site we control all of it.
Lock-in. Your content lives in their system. Leaving means rebuilding. On a custom site the content is plain files or a database you own, and the hosting bill is usually a few dollars or free.
The feature they did not think of. A store locator with your real locations. A quiz that recommends products. A parts catalog that knows which car a part fits. Builders handle the generic case. Businesses are rarely generic.
But can I still edit it myself?
Yes. We add an editor for the content you will actually change: photos, text, posts, locations, products. You get a clean admin with only the fields you need, instead of a builder canvas where one wrong drag breaks the layout.
The short version
A builder is a rental. A custom site is something you own, and after the first year it is usually cheaper too. If you are not sure which fits your situation, ask us. We will tell you straight.
